Grand Buckhead Estate
Grand Estate in Buckhead
This property was part of the one of the “Grand Estates” of Buckhead, Atlanta in the early 1900’s. The current home was built in the 1990’s and served the family well over the years, but it was in need of a thorough update. White Oak Fine Homes teamed up with Harrison Design of Atlanta, and Bill Harrison gave this project his personal attention. The results are simply stunning. Several window-filled high-end additions were carefully designed and added to maximize the natural light.
“It’s amazing how the light washes through the entire interior of the home all day, and this was achieved on a lot that is heavily wooded with mature trees.” – George Cooke
The existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were updated with state-of-the-art high-efficiency equipment as well as the latest in Smart-Home technology. Once the additions, MEP systems and energy efficiency upgrades were completed the real fun started. We brought to life the owner’s luxury design vision for a Regency-style home with a contemporary flair, coupled with landscaping manicured to the level of a resort property. The original Carriage House for the estate was renovated into a high-end one-bedroom guest cottage complete with a full kitchen.
High-end European Finishes and Curated Details
A wonderfully talented interior design team along with the owner chose to showcase the elegant interior in a “soft-contemporary” style by utilizing some very interesting reflective finishes and materials. Many rooms are finished in Venetian plaster or other European-style finishes. There is no unnecessary added trim to stop the light from washing along the walls and ceilings, the home changes color, and to some degree, changes texture as the refracting light moves throughout the day. Given the private nature of the property, it is easy to forget that the home is right in the heart of Buckhead.
Custom Luxury Elements
While no expense was spared in the construction of the home in terms of quality of materials and execution, there are a few “stand-out” items that deserve special notice:
-
-
- Venetian and Rusticated Plaster – many walls have a multi-layer plaster finish
- Natural Stone Tile Work – each luxury bath has been treated to be as special as the Primary Suite Bath using all natural stone selected to be appropriate for the time period of the original home
- Cabinetry and Counter Tops – the cabinetry and counter tops are a focal point in the home…the custom cabinetry was design and constructed by one of the top custom cabinet makers in the Southeast.
- Appliances – the kitchen has been designed and outfitted to function at a professional level, including appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero.
- Decorative Lighting Fixtures – Several of the fixtures are actual works of art and one-of-a-kind pieces. Walking through the home is like walking through a gallery when viewing the lighting fixtures, a perfect finish to a perfect home.
- Landscaping – the resort-style landscaping and hardscapes are spectacular. Seasonal color plantings, mature specimen trees, and engineered turf lawns are show-stoppers.
- Generator – the home as well as the Guest Cottage have an automatic standby generator system. The system is fully automated, runs the entire house, and is natural gas fired.
